The Open Mic calls will be held on Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Each call will take place at 10:00 AM EDT (2:00 PM GMT) and will last for 1 hour. Please dial into the call 5 minutes before the scheduled start. This conference call is designed to be an open question and answer format so bring your questions. We will conduct a 5 minute overview of DCT (same overview on both days) and then immediately open the floor for an active Question & Answer session. For details about the Open Mic calls, please see the Lotus Support Open Mic technical exchange page  (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?&uid=swg27011126).

You can submit your question in advance via the Notes 8.5 forum using the Open Mic Invitation for this topic in the “Open Mic” category. We will also take questions not submitted in advance. Questions should be of general interest and by their nature help you install, configure, manage or optimize your environment or processes. Troubleshooting of specific problems should still be handled by Technical Support, not by Open Mic calls.

Link to meeting information   http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21388699

You will need to provide your name and company affiliation when dialing in. You will need a touch tone phone to be able to ask questions. The calls will be recorded and posted to our Support web site for the benefit of those customers for whom the call timing is not convenient. The recording will be added to the meeting information document above a few days after the call.

You are receiving this invitation because you are a Lotus Domino customer, who has contacted us for technical support in the past. If you do not wish to receive mails like this one from IBM, please reply to this e-mail and change the Subject field to: unsubscribe <e-mail address>, e.g. unsubscribe user@company.com. Please be aware that this will also unsubscribe you from the regular FAQ Response mailings.

Please remember to book your calendar for this call.  We look forward to talking with you!

What is happening
The Lotus Sametime Meeting Server applets are signed with a VeriSign certificate that is valid between May 15, 2006 and May 18, 2009. To prevent users who load any of the Sametime applets such as the Meeting Room Client or Directory applet from seeing a warning message as of May 19th, IBM recommends that you apply the fixes provided in the technote (link) below. Otherwise, starting May 19th, Web users will see a dialog with a message similar to one of the following when loading a Web page that contains a Java applet from Sametime:

“The digital signature was generated with a trusted certificate but has expired or is not yet valid.”
“The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid.”

This issue can occur even if IBM is set up as a trusted publisher in the browser.

What does this mean
Please be assured that this message does not mean security has been compromised. It simply reflects the expiration of the signature originally provided in the security certificate used with certain Sametime applets. You can find an explanation in the following technote:

Title: “Sametime applets signer certificate expires on 18 May 2009″
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21380778

Action needed to resolve
To resolve the situation, you may download fixes from Fix Central and apply them to your system. The technote above provides release specific links, which we recommend you follow. The generic link to the Fix Central main page is:

What is happening
The certificate for some Java applets in Lotus Domino 6.5.x, Domino 7.0.x, Domino 8.0.x, and Domino 8.5 have an expiration date of May 18, 2009. Starting May 19th, Web users will see a dialog with a message similar to one of the following when loading a Web page that contains a Java applet from the Domino server:

“The digital signature was generated with a trusted certificate but has expired or is not yet valid.”
“The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid.”

This issue can occur even if IBM is set up as a trusted publisher in the browser.

What does this mean
Please be assured that this message does not mean security has been compromised. It simply reflects the expiration of the signature originally provided in the security certificate used with certain Domino applets. You can find an explanation in the following technote:

Title: “Security certificate expiration messages generated from Domino applets (May 18, 2009)”
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21381298

Action needed to resolve
To resolve the situation, you have three options: (1) Instruct users to “Always Trust” content from IBM, (2) if using Domino 7.x, upgrade to Domino 7.0.4, or (3) download and apply fixes. IBM recommends that you replace the affected Jar files (option 3) as described in the following download document for any supported release of Domino:

Title: “Download re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino (May 18, 2009)”
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg24022981

Alternatively, an interim fix will be posted to Fix Central for the latest Modification and Fix Pack levels by May 8th. These include Domino 6.5.6 FP3, 7.0.3 FP1, 7.0.4, 8.0.2 FP1, and 8.5.0. If you’re not running one of these releases, access the download document above, which provides fixes for all supported release levels.

Summary: Increasing value to the customer is an ongoing theme for the IBM® Lotus® Domino® server. The growing volume of information in today’s enterprise strains existing hardware infrastructures. Lotus Domino 8.5 contains features that help relieve the stress on the expensive processor and storage subsystems. This article shows the reductions in processor and disk utilization with Lotus Domino 8.5 and Lotus Notes® clients.

Abstract

This file contains information you need for installing and running Lotus Notes Fix Pack 1 Cumulative Client Hotfix 2 (FP1 CCH2) for the 8.0.2 build. This file also contains information about the SPRs included in this build.

The hotfix is available for download at Fix Central: http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/.

This hotfix ALSO includes all fixes from Notes 8.0.2 Fix Pack 1 (FP1). This Client Cumulative Hotfix replaces Client Cumulative Hotfixes 1 , 2 and 3 for the Notes 8.0.2 build.

Note also that there are no plans to develop an 8.0.2 CCH4. For the Notes 8.0.2 build, customers should install FP1 and/or CCHs on top of FP1.

You can install this FP1 CCH2 on top of 8.0.2, or 8.0.2FP1. For example, you can go directly from 8.0.2 to 8.0.2FP1 CCHx without installing the FP1 first.
